A Fatal Mistake.

Wellington, Wednesday. Mrs Bennett, residing near the Cale donian Hotol, died last night through the effect of a doso of strychnine administered by a.mistako forraorphia, Mr Fitzgerald, chemist, who made the prescription up, says the poison must have been put into a bottlo when filling it from the stoue. Thjs was done by a former assistant, who has been telegraphed for to givo evidence at the inquest. Three doctors attonded Mrs Bennett, but they were • unable to save her life.

■ Wellington, Wednesday. : 'Tho man Waters,- arrested in Dunedin, is an ex-Inspeotor of Distilleries of Queensland. He'wrote from Melbourne to tho Customs authorities, saying he had seen a still at work in lnvereargill, and knew of one in Dunedin. The Customs paid his expenses from Melbourne, and allowed him travelling expenses for a month, while he was unearthing the illioit stills. They had previously ascertained he really had been in Queensland, and had ebtained his credentials. Wators has not communicated with them since his arrest,
