Stdne?, Jaly In the Legislative Council an amendment to the Federal reaolu- - tions has been moved, in the diroction of giving the different oolonies freedom of action after sitling on the convention. The Sydney Morning Herald this morning, commenting on tho remark made by a Victorian legislator that the work of the Federal Convention is muoh lightened by New Zealand standing out, expresses a hope that this does not represent the spirit in whioh the colonies go into tho con* vention, and etates that it is not for others to prejudge the decision of New Zealand, whero circumstances are admittedly different to those of the continents! colonies. New Zealand must put her own construction on the oircumstances and form her own decision on the question, Adelaide, July 8. Parliament has adopted the Federal resolutions, and tho Minister* of Education and tho Hon, Mwß. Barker have been elected to the Convention, r.
