MASTERTON GAS SUPPLY.
Unsatisfactory Stato of Affairs. Referrine to the gas supply, the Town Clerk, in his annual' report says :-Witb reference to the production of gas per ton of coal carbonised, the returns show a most unsatisfactory state of affairs, and are quite at variance with the retiirpa furnished to.the Gas Committee jfrpni' time to ,'time, The discrepancy', which is of a very serious nature, is caused by the Railway Department's coal weights which have been proved to be
incorrect, and as long as the Borough is subject to systematic .overcharge in weight, this unsatisfactory state of affairs, will, i continue,, J jtrppgly advise that step's be taken to have au alteration made, sb I- do not hesitate in saying that the Council pay for coal thpy never, .receive, and pay freight and cartage for coal that is never carried,"
