Prisoner had been a terror to them for six years, \ Constable Leorham said that about 7.30 p.m. on. Saturday, in company, with .Constable M'Glynn, he ..went to prisoner's house to arrest him. Defen*" dant was lying half drunk in a stable pretending to be asleep. When arrested he was moot violent, and had to be.knocked, down and handcuffed: He kicked Leorham in the back,' arid when, being search at the look-up hit the constable on the side of the head, "Prisoner seemed more mad then i drunk, Sergeant Mason said , there were six previous convictions against Dixon, three of which were for assault on the police,

The Chairman (Dr Lloyd) said Dixon deserved to be tied to a tolagraph- pole and. whipped, His con-
duct was disgraceful and unnatural.For being drunk he was fined 10s or;
18' hours. "Forthe assault, on the constable £5 fine or three months'
Imprisonment ..with hard.■ labor, and as regarded his father, he was ordered to be bound to the keep peace
for 12 months in the sum of £25 in himself, and one surety of like amount, arid in default to be'imprisoned for that poriodi'• i'■ '■ ■"■'■•
