Masterton Football Club's Annual Ball.

THCannual plain and fancy dress ball in connection with the Masterton Football Club, which hhs been looked forward to with great anticipation by loversofthomazywaltzthrougboutthe district, was held in the Drill-shed, Hall-street, last evening, and was a success beyond degree. The floor wis occupied by abut Fev.enty-fivo couples, wbich number included, visitors from Carterton, Qreytown, and elsewhere, Tbe Committee, under the. command of Mr W. C, Perry, had tbe building decorated in a pleasing manner, and on entering,' one would almost imagine he was within tbe precincts of a huge Arboretum. Situated in tbe centre of the ball was an elaborate rotunda, fitted up with evergreens, etcwhioh with the numerous Chinese lanterns (kindly lent for the occasion by, Mr G; S. W. Dalrymple and another) hung promiscuous-like about the room, lent enchantment to the scene. Among the guests we noticed -Mr.Cf. Beetbani, M.H.R, and many leading residents. Dancing commenced shortly after eight o'clock, and was kept up without intermission until the small hours of the following morning, The effect produced by the various and beautiful fanoy dresses, glittering beneath the gaslight rays, was imposing, arid the sight was well worth seeing. Messrs W. McKehele andJ.
