Wairarapa North County Council.

A special meeting of the Waifarapa North County Council was held on Thursday last. PresentMessrs W..H. Boetham (chairman), Maunsell,'Sag'g, Stiickey, and Von Heden. Th» Council resolved themselves into a'committee to consider the estimates. It was resolved .that a general rate be struck of one sixteenth of a ponny in the' &, and a poor rate of one eighth of a penny; that a separate rate of seven sixteenths of a penny bestnck in tho Masterton riding; threo eighth of a penny in Wainuioru; and nine sixteenths of a penny in ■ Castlepoint riding. Consideration of 'the seperate rate for Alfredton riding was adjourned i until a. reply bo received from Pahiatua referring to the 'main road question. It was decided that the Pahiatua County Council be asked to. contribute £IOO per annum towards maintaining theroad between Eketahuna and Pahiatua boundary, and failing this, a tollgate be established as olose as possible to the Pahiatua boundary, A separate rate of 8-16ths of a' penny in tho pound be struck in the Akiteo ridiug. The Engineers'report M under consideration, and It; W Jesolved in reference to an application from Mr Burling, for a track (ran) Cathjll to Waitawbiti, that- (tie engineer close the bridge pn the County portion of the track, and that the matter be explained to Mr Burling.; Consideration of the balance sheet was ordered to stand over till the aqcounts areaudited.
