a Silver mine Difficulty. The flgeria Scandal. Melbourne, May 24, At a i meeting of shareholders in the Britisii Broken Hill Silver Mining Compay to-day, it was stated that the furnaces at the mine have been shut down, owing to a " creep " in the drive under the main carbonate ore stopes, and that praotically it will be necessary to re-open the mine. Another portion of the reef, estimated to contain over 600,000 tons of best ora and 1,000,000 tons of poorer claws in sight. The indebtedness ofOTcompany is LIG,OOO, and tko London directors willbe rocommended to issue LIOO.OOO worth of debentures for the purpose of opening up and further developing the mine. Sydney, May 25. It is understood that an enquiry lias been held into the conduct of the officers of H.M.S Egevia, by Captain Barlow, D.S.O, of H.M.S Orlando, and it has been ascertained that a notification issued by him states that the crew had no special cause for mutiny.
