WORKS COMMITTEE,

A meeting o£the Works Committee of the above Council was held in the Chambors last evening. Present— His Worship ihe Mayor, and Ore McEwen and Dapper.

The report ot the Overseer was read as follows" Sir. -I have to report fliucs last meeting the metalling on Donald's new road has bson completed, n,nd the repairs to \Veat Bush road as far ns it is made. The culvert has been put down in Herbert street, and filled up for light traffic. The footpath from Perry Street to tho Court-house lias been flooded, and the fine gravel put on fronting the OourUhouse, The topping at Mr Phillips lias also been puton, An approach lias been put to the property of Mr Nicol in Church Street, and another for Mr Chapman, 'and tho footpath' raised-and road repaired, Bailway Road has been repaired from West Bush Ifoad to Short Street, The teuoo at the Waipoua is repaired, and the bridge approaches metalled. Five days' work has been dpj# to Short Street, with two carts ofy ji/Bd about two days more will finish, #sdjmake a good job of it.
