EDUCATION BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the Board of Education was held yesterday ' morning, and was attended by Messrs Blair (chairman), Young, Fraeer, Buchanan, Bunny, Brown, Dr, Newman, and Rev. Paterson. The pay-sheet, amounting to £2674, was passed. The annnal report of the Board to the Minister of the Education Department was adopted on the motion of Mr Bonny, seconded by Mr Buchanan. ■' The resignation of Mr A. Eoulston as Master of the Mangaone School was accepted, the Chairman explaining that he had accepted a better position elsewhere. Mr A. Feist was appointed assistant at Fernridge, and Mr John Kay at Masterton.-. ■ of £5 was vo*ed as salary of a sowing teacher at Waihakoke, The question of a site for an aided School at.Alfredton wqs considered, and it was decided to deal with it pt the next meeting, The GJiairman reported that the Hoard had at length obtained an offer of a .site, at Waikanae, the natives l«Jbg agreed to sell twoacres at £25 affacre, The Chairman, Dr, Newman, and Mr J. Young were appointed a Committee to. visit Waikanae, with power to act. ■ It was resolved to instruct the Ohairman to affect a transfer of the present site at Kaitawa for one more suitable, The Board decided that they could not accede to an application for a bonus to Miss Jane Thomas, assist' ant at Eketahuna, An offer of a site for an aided school at Wangaehu was accepted, and £2O was voted towards the' cost of a building. Miss Gleesoi) was appointed to the charge' of the school. Tho Board confirmed the aotion of the Chairmort in ippolhtmg Mr John MoKonzio to the temporary cbargo of tho Mangaone School.' The Finance Committee was authorised to accept a tender for tho enlargement of tho schdolhoiise and ! teacher's residence at Eketahuna.
