The Alleged Mutiny.
Auckland, Wednesday. In regard to the alleged mutiny on i board the Egeria, it appears that whilst the vessel was in Auckland thors were vague rumors that the men were dissatisfied. As for the row in a hotel which is said to he part of the mutiny, the facts show that it is not of such magnitude as it iwmld seem. The men had a grievi ance against first Lieutenant Halby, who they say gave them unnecessary work, keeping them at it from four o'clock iu the morning until late at night. It was on Good Friday that pia'tters came tp a climax. The uipn were brought aabore "to ohurch; When they returned ou hoard tboy were ordered to go' to work, but refused ou the ground that Good Friday was a public holiday, and should be observed as Sunday. The first Lieutenant called them to the nuajter deck, but tkoy refused to go. However, ou the Captain sending the order forward, the men at once obeyed,, A New Flax Cleaning Machine. PRAOTIUALTEST. Bulls, Wednesday. A practical lost was held yesterday at Bulls of a flax cleaning machine, in the presence of several hemp millers and Mr Igle. Two or three tons of gro/m were put through during tho day, hut only: the tneohmiical portions of the invention were tried, The general opinion expressed was that the character of the work done, considering the newness .of the machine and tho difficulty of adapting the pulleys on tho main slutt to its required nunfa' of revolutions, was fairly satisfactory.
