(Jußisiciimicii, Monday, With reference-to the drowning of Eeginald Alexander, it appears that lie, together with Lis brothers William and Victor, went down to Wairaakariri in a sailing boat, when a squall upset tho boat, and Reginald, being very weak from influenza, was carried away by the current, though the brothers made a desperate attempt to save him. Wbllingtok, Monday. The Statistical Department has been taking steps to improve the vital statistics by including the population Burrounding largo boroughs. They find, however, that tlio Local Bodies are an obstacle in the way, and at present matters are at a standstill.
