New Pltsiouih, Friday. Ro the mm'der, the weathor has been too wet for the police to make a thorough search about the spot where the murder was committed. To.uay being fine, several police are on the reoreatiou ground, and it is hoped something may bo found belonging to the.person who committed the deed, for at present the evidence is only circumstantial.
The Sweating Commission. Wellington, Friday, . This morning Luke Prowatt, representative of the Bootmakers' Society, said that there was no sweating in the trade here, so far as the Society shops were concerned. Ho had some slight complaint to make of tho condition of the workshops in one or two instances. So far the Commissioners have not unearthed anything approaching sweating in its usually accepted meaning, but their enquiries have gone, if anything, to prove contrary to that state of things. What ooinplaints they have received have been rather in the nature of trade grievances, Accidental Drowning, Auckland, May. A young man' named Harry Blott, 25 years of age, was acciuVnrally drowned this morning in the salt water baths. He was subject to fits, Inciease |n Boy Labour* Friday.
