Tho carters' strike was finally settled to-day, when Winstoue Bros yielded to the demands of their men, and took four of them back into their employ at two guineas a week, beside raising the wages of those who had assisted them during the difficulty. The entries for the Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association's ram fair number, 2919 rams and' 40 ewes, Last year the entries were 2849 rams and 122 owes.
An Insurance Case.
Blenheim, March 15.
The case Stewart v. tho Equitable Assuranco, U.S.A., for £SOO, a claim for malicious prosecution by an- agent of the Company, is concluded. A verdict was returned for £l5O for the plaintiff, with costs. The law poiuts involving the question of the authorised agency were reserved.

Cornet Solo—Litligow (Invereargill Garrison), first prize, 5 points; McLeod and Molcrj 4 points, Quickstep contest (maximum points 150)— Wellington Garrison, first prize 127 points; Dunedin Ordnance, 12G points.
