In regard to the 46,000 acres of laud withdrawn from settlement, 1 as tho etl'ec't of tho proclamation of the Puliipuhi Held, the Crown Lands Board have passed tlio following resolution:-That the Board recommend that the. Government should, as soon us possible, remove from tho operations of the Mining Act all the lands that were under offer in tho area now covered by the.l'uliipuhi mining district previous to its being proclaimed as a goldlield, and to readvertise them for selection with the exception of the areas that were open for selection uuder tho homestead system in the vicinity of tho reported mineral discovery.

Jones, accused last week of cruelty at fjoulhbridgo,] were sentenced to one months' hard labour to-day, Duncan Martin, who was three weeks ago committed for trial on several charges of stealing goods fram his employers, Messrs Mason, Strainers aud Co., was to-day committed on three additional charges of stealing goods to tho value of £l2 from thesame firm, .
