Early Closing Meeting.

A well attended meeting of the above Society was held last evening for the purpose of passing rules and electing officers for the first term. Mr Stratharme was voted to the chair, and the Secretary then read the minutes of the last meeting, Mr V. Hooper informed the meeting that a deputation had waited on ilift clergymen of Masterton and they had all expressed sympathy with - the movement. They had also promised to speak on Early Ciosijig - from tho pulpit, at tho English Church on the 10th, the Presbyterian oii the 28rd, and at the Wesleyan Churah on the Sunday following, and .requested a large attendance of those interested. Twelvenowmemberswereproposed, seven of that number being lady assistants. ■'•.■<
