The Flax Industry. Auckland, March 7. A letter has been received by Mr J, M. Chambers, from the Chairman of t!i6 Flaxmillers' Association in Wellington, suggesting that a similar association, or a branch body, be established in Auckland. The letter points out that, with very large shortage in Manila and the rapidly diminishing supply of the raw material, there is every prospect that tho market for New Zealand Has will rapidly improve.
Ructions m a Borough Council. : Gheymouth, March 7, Owing to difficulties between tho Mayor (Mr Mitchell) 'and the Town Clerk (Mr J. Wball), and in consequence ot wliich tho Clerk laid an information for assault against the Mayor, a special meeting of the Council to-night passed a resolution to the effact that the Clerk was cot guilty of insubordination and did not deserve suspension. The Mayor resigned in order to "appeal to the ratepayers. Tho only two Councillors who opposed tho resolution also said they would resign with tho Mayor and offer themselves for re-election.'i
