This clover company of coloured comedians gavir their first performance in Masterton last night, t i a capi'al houso, the front seats being well filled, and the pit crowded. The first part of. the, entertainment consisted of tho usual chair husiiuss, ho capital singing of Mr W. 11. Speed and Master Dixie, together with the verj funny business o£ Messrs Copeland, Washington and Griffin, being the, especial features. In the second part, a capital orchestra, led by Mr Lellicolt, gave a selection from " Eruam." This was followed by Mr Griffin's fine impersonation of an aged charcoal dealer, tho nigger's ebony skin being very appropriate to the song. Mr Speod sang a couple of motto songs, which wore both re-demanded by the audience. Messrs Washington and Copcland followed with a wonderful rifle and bayonei exercise, which wo recommend to tlid notice of our local Volunteers, who will open their eyes when they see what is possible to be done with a rille. The same performers also gave a double silver clog jig, and a vory neat song and dance (one of the best items of the evening) entitled " Where the Robin Redbreasts dwell," Mr Speed introduced a sketch of Darkey life in the South, and Mr Lellicot concluded the. second part with a beautifully played cornet solo, " Killarney," which he had to repeat to satisfy his audience. Tha iiuvit. able nigger farce concluded a capital two and a half hours' entertainment, and one thing to the credit of this company may bo. said, that though tho fun is . fast and furious right through, there is not the slightest approach to vulgarity, or anything that the most fastidious person could tako exception to. The company appear again to night in an entire change of programme,- and will doubtless have another bumper house,
