MrMcJjaohlan had asked a follow engineer to inspect the work and he agreed with him that the worn lmd ' been satifactorily completed. He thought that in all'probability Mug had crept into the matter, as he lmd had occasion to condemn some of the work'dono by Mr Matheson on his contract. Any way he questioned the right of any member of the Board to interfere with his work. It would only occur onco with any engineer. At the time that. Mr Matheson and Mr Nielsen had measured the rud they were driving sheep over its and this fact in itself was sufficient to account' for any deficiency m the width of the ■ embankments. Mr Nielsen being' absent Mr i Matheson in reply said he was sorry i it had occurred. He was ouly trying to do what was right, Why lie had felt io strongly in the matter waa becauso the account had been .passed for payment at' a special mootiilgiand i he had no idea the matter would crop up or he would have been there. He considered he had been treated in a [ shabby manner by not being informed ■ of the matter. ■ He, sti|l i maintained : • that the road had not been done as it < should have been. Mr Bright said he had been on the . road, but riot all over it, and ho Baw : , nothing wrong.' ■' Mr McLaclilan said he would liko i the voice of the Board on the mutter. ' The Board passed a resolution that ' they were satisfied with Mr Mo- - Lachlan's work. :: ■ i Mr Bright moved that in future all complaintsshould be made'in writing, , as this would condense the mutter . and - save a lot of tho Board's time, i which was now wasted.
