Mr Larnach at Dunedin.
Dunedin, January 81. Mr Larnach his constituents at South Dnnedin to-night. Ho announced himself in favor of a progressive land ftiid income tax, He thought the Colony should pay only one half of the cost of education, and that to all parties alike. He spnke strongly in favor of intercolonial federation. A feeling of democracy was growing up so strongly that ho believed the Australian confederacy would become a great republic but he hoped that woiild be in ihe distant future, as ho had no desire for fa, He believed that the colonies would not he satisfied at their Governors being selected faom tho aristocracy of England no matter how able, H* was strongly opposed to further immigration and borrowing, but advocated giving grants of land at pepper, corn rentals for 21" years, with valuation for improvements, .as a means of attracting population and furthering gettlppit, lie admitted lio bad probably made a mistake in reducing the number of members, but ho would not vote in tho coming session for restoring tho number.
