The issue of that pleasing and i popular piotorial, the Illustrated Sydney News, just published, showsi a steady advance both in an artisti<J\ and literary 6ense, With the number before us is presented a very charming coloured supplement with a calendar for 1890. The article on the wool industry occupies several pages, and is _ the most exhaustive and ably written contribution we have seen on this subject, In the illustrations is shown an exciting scene in the Sydney Wool Exchange on salo day, the process of dumping wool, samp- •■ ling in a_ Sydney warehouse, and an exteriorviewof the exchangebuilding. -1 : The article concludes with a brief * history of the prominent firms, and will, we think, be eagerly read by country readers, The social items are always good, and have latterly become a prominent feature in the columns of the Illustrated Sydney 1 News. In . the issue under notice they are enlived by portraits of Mr and Mrs :"'•■ Sydney Burdekin and Miss Horsfall (of Hay).
