Serious Accident
'■■" Gibborne, January 22. This evoning a sad accidont happened to the Rev John McAra, Presbyterian roiuister, He woo driving with his little girl in a buggy when tbo horse was startled and became unmanagable. The carriage swerved and capsized, and the reverend gentleman and the. child wore thrown out on the road, Mr MoAra sustained a fracture of the skull and collarbone.- Tho child' was not severely injured. The doctors consider there is little hope of recovery for Mr McAra.

An application was made to the Resident Magistrate at Tauranga to-day to hare Mr R, 0. Hulme ousted from office as a Borough Councillor on the grounds that Hulme is neither owner or occupier of rateable property, that the Borough roll has been improperly altered to enable his tiamo to bo put on the vol Us a burgeßS, and iilso that the alterations nnde have been initialled by himself instead of by the Mayor, as directed by the Act; The application was refused on the ground that Huhne's uame appeared on the burgess roll, and the magistrate could not go behind that,
