Considering the extremely unfavorable state of the weather, the attendance was very good, the dress circle and stall seats especially being well filled, a fact which shows that the musically educated portion of the publio thoroughly appreciates the efforts of the company to eater for them, Miss Soymour, in the character of Germaine, acted the part with a degree of taste whioh is in porfeot harmony with the conception of the t author of the opera (Planquette), while her rendering of the "Signal of the Bells," "By the Side," and other solos, again and again elioited the loudest applause. Miss Mackay's Serpolette was equally well rendered and sung. Mr England took tho part of the Marquis, and bis acting, as well as his vocal efforts, did full' justice to the character, his sobs " With joy my heart," and " Silont heroes," deserving special' mention. Mr Walshe,' as Grouicheux, had a oliaractor that suited him in every way,aud his last song, " That night I'll ne'or forget," brought down the Imp, and will probably not :be forgotten in M&stofton for some time to (jonie. The lady pianists deserves a word of praise for her careful aocoinpanimetntg, which added much to the success of the performance, Tonight y Fille de Madame Angot" will be presented, Miss Seymour taking her favorite charaoter of Clairette.
