The school children bold a picnic in Mr Eagle's paddook 011 Friday last, and aftor about throe hours sport, such as roundersj kiss-in-tlie-ring, swings, k,about sixty children with a good sprinkling of adults'sat down to a good tea provided by tho Committee, arid after doing justice to the good things placed before, them, other games were indulged in while the ladies cleared the tables, and then a distribution of books took placo. About forty books'were giveiv to tho children, varied in prices from 4s Gil to 9d. Tho gathering then broke up after an enjoyable day had. been spent. About thirty adults went (as is a colonial custom), to the school to. have a fly round.
