(From Our Own Correspondent.) ■ Last night, at the Foresters' Hall, thp adjourned public meeting on the town'hall question took place. There was but a! small attendance, mid the Mayor-elect, Sir it. A. Wakelin, was voted to, the chair. He after a few appropriate remarks, called upon the secretary to the Town Lands Trust .(Mr A. L. Webster) to read the report of the trustees and a committee appointed at 1 the previous meeting 'to ascertain matters, ; re the re-, building or' otherwiso of ft new town hall.: The report set forth that legal advice had been obtained from a lawyer hi Wellington to the effect that'the trustees cinno! ItaiM a new town ball out of trust revenue (rents). After a few remarks from the Chair, the adoption of the, report, as read, was moved in due form, tfiere being no, amendment, only a long pause—a kind pf pajnjur quietude pervading hip sn|ajl.hicqt|ng-thß report was carried without dissent, .As there' was/no further talking indulged in, the usual compliment to.thechairihau brought this unost peculiar public meeting to a close. •.'■ : .- ■•■ '
