Tho action of the Magistrate in summarily sentencing hiui was severely criticised, but tho matter dropped without any action being taken. Searle's funeral will take place on Saturday. It is proposed to erect a monument to his memory at the finish ot the Champion Course on the banks of the Paramatta.

Many tliousauds of people followed dearie's romains to the railway station, The streets wero thronged and the proceedings were of a very impressive character. It is suggested that a national monument should be erected over his grave.
