The report of the Gas Committee was read and adopted, Cr Heron presented a petition from tliirty-tlivee residents of Kuripuni, asking that the Municipal manual engine and appliances might he stationed at Kuripuni for the use of a brigado to be formed there. A list of about twenty persons willing to constitute a brigade accompanied the petition,

Cr Gapper moved that the petition bo referred to the Fire Brigade Committeo to report upon at the next meeting of the Council, and that they obtaiifullsr details us to housingine engino, and the ■ standing of the brigade. The motion was seconded by Cr E. Chamberlain and carried,

The Gas Committeas' report was read and approved, The Inspector of Nuisances reported upon the unsatisfactory state of the public school outbuildings, That notices had been served on property owners abutting on the town creek to remove obstructions therefrom, and asking instructions in the cases' of those who had failed to comply with tho notice, Tho Mayor said, with reference to the first part of the report, that the Edu- | cation Board wore responsible for the sanitary state of the school. Cr Perry moved, and Cr Hessey seconded, that a copy of the report referring to the nuisance at the public school be forwarded to"the Education Board.:. 1 i The motion was carried,

In reference 'to the town creek, Cr T., Chamberlain moved that fourteen days notice bo' given to the owners of property, wkero necessary, to'clean out the creek;-failing which it would he done by tbo Council at their expense. ■' ■'■■'■

Cr Heron suggested that before action was takeu the Inspector should submit the names to. tho Council.

Tho Town Clerk road by-law 92, bearing on tho subject, and the report was referred back to tho Inspector to furnish tho names as suggested. : The Clerk said as the next ordinary meeting of tho Council would fall upon Christmas Eve he would suggest that tho ordinary business for that day should be takon at the statutory meeting next week, and the ordinary meeting, bo allowed to lapse, This course was agreed upon.
