A MODEL GARDEN.

As showing what can be dono on a threo acre section we direct attention to Mr George Gruscho's garden, r Nursery Road. Our reporter paid a i visit there recently, and wassurprised to find to what a high state of cultivation it had reached. There wore • nicely laid out walks all round the i ground, and on each side of them . wore rows of gooseberry bushes all of :, the larger varieties, each tree looking , wonderfully healthy, and bearing • extraordinary large crops. Then , there were- beds of strawberries in i full bearing, including somo of the i best known varieties, notably tho " Uritish Queen," which for flavor is , reckoned to excel all other sorts, • Long rows of raspberry canes, giving , promise of returning their industrious . owner a handsome profit on the labor he hid expended on them; currant ; bushes, laden with fruit, red, white i and black, and large fruit of every description, Mr Gruscho's crop of apples this year promises to oxceed any former season, and as tho excellence of the quality of his fruit, for he believes in growing only tho best , varieties, and the care he takes in gathering it in is so well-known and recognised that he experiences no difficulty in disposing of his choice crops, Suoli an industry is not carried on without care and attention, and this model garden receives it, All the work, however, is done, by Mr Gruscho and tho members of his family, the children doing their share after school hours, Once in a thorough state of cultivation a garden of this size is not difficult to keep in order, although it will not stand neglect, and Mr Gruscho finds timo to turn his hand to ether work to increase his income, besides attending to his own garden. Mrs Gruscho is an industrious holpmale and in addition to looking after the fruit and preserves finds time to attend to her cows and a colony of bees. Their cottage is surrounded with pretty beds of flowers, including several choice honey plants and useful herbs, It is quite a treat to walk out to this pretty little garden, where' a draught of milk and a plate of fresh strawberries can be obtained and this, on a warm day is very refreshing.
