As far as our I district is concerned we can in no 1 wise complain of the success of . either tho C&rterton or the Masterton r Show, We have carried off some ) very good prizes; no more and 1 no less then we expected, and! a breedors were thoroughly: satis--1 fled as to tho results. Far different, i, however, is the general opinion pro- '. vailing hero with regard to the 1 Wellington or rather the Hutt Show 1 under tho distinguished patronage • of the Wellington Association.
Shearing operations are progressing very favourably here, and to judge by the quantities of wool passing on tho road sheepowners will have not much reason for complaints, The weather has of lato been exceedingly fine, and although the gardens require rain very muoh indeed it is to bo hoped that it will continue so till the shearing is over. There is a pigeon-shooting match advertised to tako place hero at Mr Sexton's on New Year's Day, and if any ot your amateur shots are willing to prove thoir abilities I think I can promise tliem a hospitable reception,
