Eketahuna Road Board.
The ordinary meeting of the above Board was' held at the Board's office on Saturday lfitli, at 7 p.in, Pre-sent-Messrs Anderson (chairman), I Mlsoi'i,"" Matron, fright, and Morris, '' A letter was tm\ from tho Receiver of Lands Bevonuo, stating that the accrued thirds of certain
sections in tho Mangahao Block which wore partly within the Board's boundary had been paid to tbo Pahiatuu County. The Ekotahuna Board would receive thirds for the current year.
ft was resolved to apply to the Pahiatua County Council for refund of three back payments. The Chairman remarked that the Board's roceut law case had opened his eyea to one or two things, and he would move that henceforth all business be done under resolution, and that a standing resolution be placed on tho minutes to take effect for ono year, Also,a resolution that any two members of the Board be empowered to sign cheques, specifications and agreements.—Carried. Communication from G. Schultz, requesting payment for road line felled Hyhim,L2 17s {ld, Leftover. From R. A. McKenzie. asking payment for 15i chains of the Hoard's road line felfed by hiui. Left over. From George Edmonds, in support of tho application made by Mr Tyler at the Board's last meeting for the rema/nder of the loan to 03 spent on tho bridge, Applicant stated it was £76.
The Chairman said the elerk and himself had gone into the accounts and found that there was only £2B duo to that road from loan not £76 as Mr Tyler had stated, He had since found that G. Edmonds section would have to be added, and that would made it a little more, Mr Morris asked if a bridge could not to elected for about £4O, It was decided to ask the engineer's opinion later on.
From Survey Office acknowledging Board's communication of 24th September asking road through Totara Reserve, (W. 5.8., Block No 1), and statingGovemment could not see their way to expend anything for the purpoao._ From Treasury Department informing Board that loans were at Board's disposal having been passed, From Richmond and Richmond onclosing tracings of loan District, (W.S.S.), also account of £5 ss. Board resolved not to acknowledge account and instructed clerk to return tracings, From Mr W. Jcssen in reply to Board's letter of 2othultimo, explaining views re suspension of county and inviting Chairman to attend meeting on Saturday noxt. From MrTomlinson, (Section 8-1 and 48, Mangaono), asking that accrued thirds be spent on metalling main road in front of sections.. It was resolved that the application to he taken into consideration next time, as monies already allocated. From Mr Haggen regretting that the Board found fault with his advertising rates and stating that if the Board gave him a fair share he would charge same rates as Daily. Soreral letters from Bank of New Zealand acknowledging receipt of monies. From a surveyor informing the Board that they had acted jillegally in appointing their eughieer.atid asking payment of L 5 5s for trouble ho had been put to in tendering. MrNeilson proposed thaUho clerk bo instructed to write to that gentleman thanking him for his iuiormation, but at the same time declining to pay anything.
From C. W. Brown, asking compensation for falling road line adjoining his section.
From F, G, Moore, County Clork, asking that alteration to boundary (Mauriceville-Eketahuna) be allowed to take effect in May, to fit in with election,
From Mr Murchant explaining conditions under winch accrued thirds might he used to pay interest on loan. This was all the correspondence. The following tenders were received .-Deep Creek bridge, Mr J. Dawson, (Mastcrton), 1425 (accepted)

No. 1, (Hull Jj. S.)-A. Dixon, £99; (accepted); fi, Chisholm, ,tt 5s lOd per chain, No 2, Hutt Special Settlement.— It was decided to call fresh tenders for this contract, there being only our tender in.
No 8, Hutt.-Goodban, i' 3 10s per chain, accepted; Wiekendon and funnel, £1 Gs per chain; Knight and Budby, informal; Dixon, i 25, Mr Morris suggested that in future all tenderers mark " tender" on outside, with name and number of contract.
A lotter was handed in anion;; the tenders from Mr Jno Carter, staling that as ho was compelled to pay rates for the bridge loan, which was of no benefit to him, it would be only fair if tho board formed Carter street, leading to his section. It was resolved that if anything was left from loan, the matter should be looked into.
Mr D, McLachlan wrote asking the board to allow him extra for the trouble lie had been ptrt to over Mr Harding's contract, He stated he had inspected tho work, and advised payment if tho conditions did not provide maintenance.
Tho Chairman said Mr McWihn b:ul boon put to a lot of table through the contractor's unnecessary delay, and thought he should be allowed something. Mr Neilson said tlie board could npt be expected to lind the money. It should be stopped from the contractor's.
Mr Matlricson moved that Mr McUcbhu be paid tlie sum nsW (50s), and the contractors be fined to thai amount. Carried,
Homo desultory discussion re division of the district into wards followed. _ The Chairman then asked Mr King uis opinion on tho bridge askedfor by Tyler and Edmunds.
