Auckland, November iu, The Auckland Trades and Labour Council passed tiie following resolution at ii meeting to-night:—" That this Council thoroughly endorses the action taken by the Amalgamated Union of Tuiloresses, Tailors and Pressors of Ohristchurch in withdrawing the employes from tho Kuiapoi factory; and the Council undertakes, on the part of the societies they represent, to avoid dealing in any goods supplied by ibe factory until its mmvigerscomply with the demands of tho union," The TotahsatorCiiitiSTCHUiicii, November 15. The Canterbury Trotting Association havo decided, in consequence of the action of the Government iu restricting the issue of tolalisator licenses that a deputation consisting of the President, Secretary, and another member of the Association proceed to Wellington to lay before the Colonial Secretary the claims of trotting, and the hardships caused to owners, trainers, and breeders of trotting horses if the racing rules are enlorced. The deputation leaves to-morrow, Cutting Timber on Crown LandsCimisTuiiimcu, Nov 15. Al tho Magistrate's Court, Oxford, yesterday, before Mr C. Wliitcford, seven informations wore laid against four persons for cutting timbers off Crown lands at Oxford, The prosecution was conducted by the Crown Prosecutor for Mr Jjaker, Commissioner of Crown Londs. Fines were entered against J. Booth, L 75; M, Lace, L3O; J. Bhavplin, 10s; Mrs Perham, Ll2los, for the offences. Costs in each case, Lli 17s, except in Lace's case, when they were LB lis. Tho informations were laid under the Laud Act, 1885, section 26, which provides for a full penalty of LSO on each conviction. Compulsory Education. Auckland, November 15, A meeting of the chairmen of the several oommitteos in this district was hold to-day, when the question of compulsory attendance of children at school was discussed. It was decided to recommend that tho Act be altered so as to require every child to attend atleast sixteen times during the month unless exempted.
