Home Rule Opponents.
Auckland, Nov. 8, A public meeting of those opposed to Home Rulo for Ireland was held to-night at the City Hall. There was a crowded attendance. The admission was by free ticket only. The Chairman, Mr K. C, Barstow, explained that tho step was a defensive one, owing to the visit of the Irish delegates. Among the speakers were Sir W, Fox, the Key J. Bates, and others. Resolutions deprecating all projects for the establishment of a separate Parliament in Ireland as detrimental to the interests of that country and tending to the disintegration of the British Empire, wore passed by a very large majority. Patty Larceny. Nelson, November 8, A unin named Henry Collins was charged to-day on two separate charges of stealing clothes at night time from clothes-lines at Stoke and Hope respectively. The articles were clearly identiGed, but the prisoner gave evidence under tho Act of last session and swore that the articles were not stolen, making a statement as to where he obtained them. The Resident Magistrate held the cases proved, and sentenced the man to a month's imprisonment on each charge,
