London, October 9. • The total quantity of wheat and fjour afloat for the United Kingdom is 1,448,000 quarters, and for tho Continent, 848,000 quarters, The American visible wheat supply is 18,875,000 bushels. Competition at the wool sales was strong, Prices have reached the highest point during the series,
Messrs Freeman R. Jackson and Co. report Pat Cattle were yarded in fuller numbers at Johnsonville on Wednesday, though barely equal to trade requirements; they were of moderate quality, with a fairnumber of light weights. Bullocks kept up to lata values, and wera firm at 17s the 1001b, Sheep, owing to recent rough wealher, were in short supply, only shorn sheep coming to hand, making folly 2d per lb. Mr Robertson maintained the position held by him at the corresponding salo last year, by again topping the market wiili his annual draft of wethers from his Waireka estate, at prices given below. Lambs came forward in increased numbers, though not beyond the requirements of tho market; they were generally indifferent in quality, and sold at late rates. No pigs were penned. Cattle—Bulkcks, £5 17s Gd to £0 15s, averaging £G Bs, SheepPrime shorn wethers, 13s 6:1 to 14s Id; well fatted do, llsOdto 12s 6d : lambs, 6s to. 9s 9J.
Mr P. H.Wood held his usual fortnightly atock salo at tho Taratahi yards, yesterday, (Thursday). Tho entrioa wore not large, but tho attendance was uoud and all stock yarded aold at fair prices undor tho hamtnor, ruling as undor.
