At the last mectmp of tho Jockey Club ono gortleman in the course of business received six such notes, all of which were returned by tho bank with tho word "Forgery" written across them. The counterfeit ones are splondid imitation; of the real article, apparently the result of expert photo-lithogranhy ; but by c?reful examination, the cheat is easily dis' ' covered, probably bocauae the lens used in the operations was too small. Every letter and word on tho the original note photographed is reproduced in the forgery on a slightly smaller scale; for instance, between tho sentence "One Pound" at top of the genuine date, and the eame sontenco in the counterfeit, , there is a difference of several lines in 1 depth, and at least an eighth of an inch in tho full length of the sontenco.
