In the course of the inquiry one witness said, ''Mrs Kylo told mo the father was Constable ," She was stopped before the name was mentioned, At a latter stage, Inspector Kiely asked that the witness should- be asked to state the name, so that a stigma should not rest on the whole police forco; but counsel for Mrs Kylo objected, and tho Coronor found that it was not relevant to tho inquiry. The statement complained of was made in the course of a discussion at a meeting of the Oncluinga Borough Council, when the defendantsaid that the plaint-ills (who, it had been suggested should be asked for in opinion on a subject then before the Council) were trying to ruin the town, . Wesleyan Conference. Nelson, September 16. Tho Wesleyan Church members to-night resolved affirming the desirableness that the Wesleyan Church of New Zealand should have a- separate conference independent of Australia. They have also resolved to invite tho Rev F. W. Isitt of Invoroargill to take oharpo of Nslson circuit next year, the torn of the Rev \V, C, Oliver expiring, No Money and No BoomNaweh, Tuesday. At the Education Board to-day a resolution was passed that application be made to tho Minister to know at tho earlist possible date when tho building grant will be allotted, as tho Board is overdrawn £2OOO. With no money for necessary repairs many schools are falling to pieces for want of ropairs. Thoro is no money in hand to erect schools where they aro urgently needed, All demands from School Committees for money are postponed pending tbo Minister's reply, many children 11 are unable to be admitted to schools I for want of room,
