Auckland, September 10. 'The pioneer settler of Sunday Island, of tho Kermadec Group, Mr Bell, is in Auckland, for the purpose of obtaining legal advice as to his position in view of the proposed expedition of special settlers from Napier to that place. He contends that the island is his by virtue of occupation and possession and further says that ho has spent L2OOO there in developing the resources of the place. Mi J. M. Gelling, ono of the proposed settlers, has left with his family for the Hervey Group, instead of for Sunday Islaiiit. '
