SCHOOL OF DESIGN.

The School of Design, at Masterton, was .visited by., a.large number of ladies and'gentlemen' yesterday, who showed considerable interest in the really creditable display of art work exhibited for their inspection. The walls were lined with specimens of drawings, wator color sketches, ami oil paintings. Tho exhibits by Misw' Holmes, the instructress, were muckadmired. included viows of Bon Nevis in oils j called forth very favorable comment, aud a gipsy girl in oil by Miss Cox, was very expressive The collections by Miss Ella andMabelPharazyn.aud Miss Kempthorne, still life groups, in water colours; and also the, exhibits,: by Miss Vou Stunner and Miss Alice' Perry wero a credit to both pupils aud teachers, A begonia rex, panel painting, by Miss Von Stunner, was beautifully shaded and coloured, A head from Life % ;Mrs Turner, of Feathcrston, was perfect in detail and a thorough picture. A fine screen of rare ferns, of the staghom ,~ and tongue variety, by Mr A.
