North Wairarapa Gun Club.
The first pigeon match of the season came off on Saturday in Mr F. fl. Wood's paddock, Masterton, and considering the unfavourable statp of the weather there was a very successful gathering. The birds were fairly : good, but rather too tame. Several competitors shot their birds, which fell within the boundary, but managed to flutter just ousido the distance, notably Messrs Elkins, Smith, and Haigh. A bird Mr Cavo was about to fire at made straight at him, and the bystanders shouted " don't fire," and ho refrained. Of course ho lost his score. The bird, singularly enough, settled on his shoulder. Tliero were over one hundred onlookers, who appeared to enjoy the sport. The first event on the programme was a three-bird pigegn match. "Everyone shot from the 'ioyds 'mark, Mr W.' A, Mason acting as referee. The following are the scores : J. Breeds, 1111 ;W. Hirschberg, 1 1 1 0; A. Elkins, 110; C. A. Battes, 10; H. J, Haigh, 1 0; E.
