Iu the Houso yesterday afternoon the Premier said Government did not intend to treat Mr Grimuioiid's amendment as a want of confidence motion, as it did not come from the acknowledged leader of the Opposition. He invited Mr Ballance to give notice of motion if he wished to test the strength of tho Government, The Premier declined even to debate the amendment because it was intended to discredit certain members of the Ministry. Government did not intend to make any statement unless asked by someone of their own party, but declined to givo tho Opposition any information after the way they had behaved.
