ENGLISH. London, September 5. Sir B. W. Watkins, M.P., for Hylhe is urging the dock companies to concede to tho demands of the men. Mr H, Broadhiirst, member for Nottingham, having been made the object of attacks in connection with tho strike, at the annual meeting of tho Trades Congress a vote of confidence in him was passed by an immense majority. The lightermen, who originally struck out of sympathy with tbo dock-, men. are now insisting on an increase of wages for themselves to Cd an hour for VI hours work. 11 is expected the strike will gradually subside,
Fifty printers have been conceded an advance to £1 per week for 10 hours a day.
The tailors riot in tho East End was quelled without difficulty, but there was nothing serious in it.
