Melbouiine, August 27. _Mr Gillies, Premier, considers vigorous action on the part of the Australasian Governments is necessary to combat the proposed annexation of the New Hebrides Group to France. He is now in communication with tho various colonies on the subject. Very little interest is being taken in tho no-confidence debate brought about by Mr McLean moving for a uniform duty on cereals, and an increase in tho stock tai. The Government are certain of a large majority.
