Natives'v Auckland.

Auckland, August 24. The football match between the Native toam and the Auckland rep sentntive players took place to-day, al Epsom, There was 8 very large attendance of the public. The game was a fast one, but in the second spell especially near the close, the Natives were overmatched, and their opponents scored rapidly, the whole of their poinlß being-gained after half time. The match resulted in a victory for Auckland by 7 points to two. For the local team tries were obtained by Lecky and Herrald, and one of theao Insulted in a goal, whilst Mnsefield potted a goal. The Natives' score was two tries secured by Goldsmith and Elliott.

The return mate!) hotween North and South Wairarapa was played at, Carterton on Saturday, and resulted in another victory for tho North by 12 points to 7. Only seven of those originally selected to represent the North put in an appearauce, the team being made up to fourteen with substitutes, while the South played sixteen men during tho first spell. For the winners D'Arcy potted a Roal, and J. and H. Perry and Walter Welch got tries, G, Perry converted two of the tries, und E, Thompson the othor. For the losers (two) and Tyler got the tries, two of which E. Udy converted into goals. Twenty.two players liave given in their names (including tMitoen of those who played against Wellington and tho Maories) as willing to go on the proposed tour, so that the match committee should have little difficulty in getting a good team together, and one that will give a good account of itself, .

A mutch was played on- the Star "round on Saturday between the Juniors and the second team of the Bed Stars. A high wind was blowing straight down the field, and the Juniors with the breeze at their backs made things very lively in the first spell. Green, from a free kick, sent the ball over tho har from near the half way flag, and a try by Chambers for the Stars, was the only scoring in the first spell. In the second, however, the Stars showed their superiority by adding eight jioints to thoir total from tries gained by Chambers, Bichards and Bannister. Wriqltsy got another point for the Juniors, leaving the result Stars 9 points. Juniors 4, For the winners T. Welch, Bannister and Freeth played fairly well, while for the defeated ones, Green, Hounslow Gapper, Uwen, Hockloy, Mcpherson and Russell played excellently. Tho collaring of the Junior backs was very good, and this Club, if in formation next year, will run very close for the Junior Cup, Party feeling ran intensely high throughout the match, and on' one or two occasions the spectators were treated to some furious by-play on the part of excited '• barraokers," rough blows being exchanged in real earnest, The " small fry " of the town were preseut on the ground in huge mobs, and indulged in a considerable amount of liooting and barracking, the referee coming in fcr a big share of hard words, whenever his decision did not meet with the approval qf these excited juveniles. Wo were surprised to notioo ono or two -veil-known senior pluyors who certainly should have known bettor, frequently encouraging the hooting, rathor than suppressing it, In tho next match the younger team are engaged in, we hope to see their captain hold a little more authority over his men, and to bo able to control their tongues* for their languago was not at all times that which marks true exponents of tho game.

Tho following team of the Master- | ton Football Club will play at Wellington on Saturday next, against the Wellington Football' Club.—Nini ; Hill, Pani, 0- "Perry;' J. Perry, HirachWg, H, Jerry;' I arid Ci Bannister/W, and'E, Day.'G. Holm, wood, Simeon, G. and W. Wolcli, The team will leave by tho 7 a,m train, .
