The Premier,. who had been in Court during tho hearing of the case on Wednesday, was called, and stated that ho had received tho drawer produced containing, amongst other things, a tin with powder iu it and. a box of gun caps. He had also received from Mr Jellicoe a box of wads.aud a wad cutter, and a bandbox with a piece cut from it. The wads fitted the gun very well, The Hon Mr Richardson assisted' him 1o try the gun, The wads must have been cut from the bandbox,

George Denton, ironmonger, proved the sale to Mr Jellicoe of a wadcutter of peculiar size," which was similar to the one produced in' court, and was by the same maker.

Robert Dyvell deposed to having purchased a wad cutter for Chemis, t Mrs Chemis gave evidence at considerable length. She stated that the wad cutter, shot pouch, and stiletto were all kept in the same drawer with a number of articles which had been taken away by the detectives. There was also a canister containing £l ; but neither this nor many other articles had been removed. Anyone looking through the drawer should have seen them. She had seen hor husband cut wads out of a band-box. Her husband had not used the gun on the day of the murder, but had shot some quail with it on the preceding day. The case was adjourned till the following day.
