London, Aagust 9. Frozen meat holders demand high rates. New Zealand mutton is quoted at sd, lamb 7fd; Sydney mutton, 4j; beef, 3d for fore-quarters and did for bind-quarteM.
Sugar-German, cash prico, 19s: Java, 21s, quiet. The quantity of wheat and floui afloat for the United Kingdom is estimated at about 2,800,000 quarters, and for the continent, about 232,000 quarters. The American visible supply of wheat is ostimated «t 12,625,000 bushels. Australian wheat, ox warehouse, 89s Gd; New Zealand wheat, long berried, ex store, 89s, quiet.
Messrs Freeman 11 Jackson & Co. report:—The fat cattle that came forward at Jolmsonvillc on Wednesday were in oxcess of tho numbers advertised, the quality ranging rather below medium to good. Competition was brisk, and the sales effected were equal to those of last week, Wethors again occupied the sheep pens.though rather fewer came forward; about half were good in both oondition and wool, the remainder being light to medium; an easier demand was noticeable, though the prices were a par on last week's. We penned the first of this season's lambs, and competition was vary keen for those in good condition ; comparing this consignment with a similar entry from the same quarter last year, the size and quality were not so good, notwithstanding which equal prices were obtained. Pigs mustered in strong force and sold readily at full values. Cattle-Bul-locks, £4 7s Gd to £7 Is, averaging £G and £s lßs respectively; a small consignment and that was indifferent beof made £Bl4s. tap-Best wethers, IBs; others, Ms 2d to 15s; light, 12s 2d; good lambs, 9s to lis Gd; others, 7s Gd to 8s 9d, PigsBaeoners, £2 Gs to £2lßs Gd: smaller 28s to 80s; porkers, 17s Od to 255; stores, 8s to 14s. Oxbeefmado 15s Gd the 1001b; mutton 2} per lb.
| I*ord Cranley's Condition, Weluxgton, Friday. The following telegram was received to-day at Government House: Nelson, August 16. Lord Cranley passed a good night, the fever is rapidly subsiding, but he is very week. Shall send no further bulletins unless a change occurs. I shall remain here a few days till the chance of and relapse, such as often occurs, is past.
