A young man given the name of Sommerville had been staying at Lloyd's boardinghouse andhadrepresentedliimself as traveller for Sargood, Son, and Ewen. He had taken a number of orders for clothing insisting on a deposit in each case, and giving a printed receipt. This afternoon the other boarders at the establishment named missed money and other tilings from their rooms, amongst the stolen goods'being a pair of trousers. Sommerville did not appear at tea and suspicion was attached to him, when the police were acquainted, and forthwith finding that a man answering tho description had left by the Eotorua communicated with the officers at Picton, and £>ommeryille wap p'estedjkw,
