Auckland, August 12, An action bearing on the liability of Itoad Boards was opened at the Supreme Court to-day, before Mr': Justice Prendergast and a special jury. The action was brought by 6. G. McCrae and wife against the Managere Road Board, and was for £OOO damages. It was alleged that on the evening of May i last, the plaintiffs were proceeding along the Managere road in a drip drawn by one horse, The horse and trap came into contact with an unprotected heap ofsooria, and was overturned, and the plaintiffs were thrown to tho ground, Mrs McCrae being severely injured, The defence was that the injuries were caused through negligence on the part of the plaintiffs. Mr Theo, Cooper appeared for the plaintiffs, and Mr E. Mesketh for the defendants. A good deal of evidence having been heard, the Court adjourned.
