Particulars of the action with the Arabs show that General Grenfell left Toski at five in the morning, and found the enemy preparing toadvance. The English commander feigned to
withdraw, but when four miles from Toslti stopped and charged, tlio cavalry to the right and infantry to the loft, The Dervishes were driven from bill to bill, fighting desperately as they were forced back. They were repeatedly charged by the cavalry while vainly attacking the right of the Egyptian troops, and Wad-el-Jiani, their chief, was killed, After seven hours' lighting the Arabs broke and finally lied, leaving their leadc-r, with twelve Emirs and 1500 men, dead on the field, The cavalry and gun boats on the river followed the fugitives for miles, All tlio dervishes' baggage and fifty standards were captured.
