TINUI.

[From Our Own Correspondent.

The weather ihough cold with frpaty nights has been fine since my letter of the 13lh inst, These frosty nights have proved injurious to vegetation, consequently many sheep that were in a weak state are now

lying dead on tbo lull sides and in the valleys below. But tho grass being cut off by. llio ageocy of frost

is not , the- sole' cause of so many animals lying dead. Toot has played its part among tho cattle, wlnlo the poisoned grain, laid for the rabbits, haß destroyed many sheep. The roads though much better than in previous yeara are not worthy of praise in this township, where the mud is four or fivo inches deep on one of our principal streets, The roadmen are now engaged in removing the slips off the roads that

the late rains brought down, 'lhey have quito enough work to do without being engaged at this, as in many places the watertables want to be cleaned out, and when cleaned out they want to be kept clear or tho water runs across many

lollow pam of the road, and thus

destroys in a short time what it may take a man days to . repair. The Council preventing a mail coach running to this district is causing a grievance among those who may be compelled through sickness to travel in an open vehicle, thereby exposing themselves or their families to the inclemency of the weather, whioh may increase tlio illness and probably bo the causo of their death,

It is therefore desirable that the Council as a body of good meaning men will take into consideration tha preceding and allow tho mail coach to run to Tenui,
