I understand that Mr Hugh Belliss of this district, has taken an action for damages through his wife and child boing thrown out of his trap while driving at a lato hour from Tenui to his residence, Mr Belliss is inclined to believe that his accident was caused through the County Councils neglect in leaving a heap ofunspread metal so that it was dangerous to traffic, This case has been investigated by the Council already aud the claim rejected. Mr Belliss evidently remembers tho story of Bruce and the spider. The rabbits were very numerous in this district some time ago,but through tho efforts ofsettlcrs in laying poisoned grain, those quiet little creatures have nearly disappeared; so tho farmers are resting contented, looking forward
with pleasant prospects to the coming wool season, which is offering to bo prosperous in this district, as the grass is showing signs of beinj; plentiful,
