Messrs Bright and Syverson wero appointed visiting members for the month. Tlio Head-master was instructed to reply to the Secretary of tho Board that they had sufficient school furniture, but none to spare. Letters were received from Mrs Maunsell and Mr Von Reden re

It was resolved on tlio motion of Mr Parsons seconded by Mr Neilson tlmt the amount should be increased to 255, and tlmt thechildrenandHesdmasterpurchasß prizes for distribution, The Head master reported there was a fair average ttendance during the month; on the roll 104, highest attendance GB, lowest 49, average 58 and a fraction. Tho Chairman stated that he had visited'the school several timos and Jw always found it in good order, the fiSilreii clean and comfortable, and the head master in o ttendance. He had no fault whatever to find with the working of the school. Tho scaffolding of the bridge in course of erection across tho Makakahi collapsed this morning and fell into tho river. The men at work managed to escape except one, who ran the, wrong way, and went down with it. There happened to be plenty of men about luckily, as the poor fellow Jell on the far side of tho oyer. Great difficulty wasexperienced getting him out. He seems to be greatly knocked about, but it is impossible to tell tho extent of his injuries. lam glad to say all hands worked heartily to get the man out in - time for the midday train. Top much praise cannot be given to Mr Thompson for tho brave manner in which lie rescued the man, and to all others for the help given. The only way in which they could pet the man here was by cutting a road down a gujly leading to the river. However' were plenty of willing hands I don't lmow his name. He is a stranger here, only being at work on the bridge a few days.
