Murder and Suicide.

A horrible murder, followed by the suicide r of the murderer, was'committed at a place called Tunybont, ■near Tredegar, Mon,, on Saturday evening, May 6. It appears that a coker named George Higgins, alias Jones and Daley, aged 30 had been cohabiting with a married woman named Bridget Daly, aged 40 years, /, whose husband is supposed to be living in America, ho having left his wife and children some years ago, Higgins i& i had besn living with the deceased for \ about two years, It seems that on Saturday evening Mrs Daly was drink- ' at tho R?d Lion inn with a man named John Evans, who is also a coker, They left the bonso shortly after seven o'clock and proceeded to the Red Inn vaults, where she was followed by Higgins. They appear to have had some words and Higgins struck the woman three or four times, She left about a quarter past seven in company with Evans to her home. Sbo was then evidently under influence of drink, as sbo was seen stagger, She had been in the house scarcely five minutes when Higgins made liis appearance, and turned out Evans and the children of the deceased woman, The door was then locked hy Higgins, and shortly afterwards a disturbance was heard. A neighbour named George Yates heard the dispute, but as it wis not an thing ho took no uotico of it, Shortly afterwards, however, he heard soue loud screams. Find- * inn tho noor of the house closed, he 7 forcod the-window, and was horror stricken to find the womau lying in a pool of blood, apparently dead, and the murderer was at the same t.imo seen to fall to the ground. Shortly afterwards Police constables James and Jones apeared on the scone, as well as Dr Brown, hut it was then found tbac in both cases life was extinct, The deceased woman's daughter, named Kate, agad 16 years tried to get through the window to her mother, and tho cries of children were heartrending. tS[_ house was then locked up, Mr Martin Edward, coroner, held an inquest ot Tredegar, on Tuesday on the bodies of Bridget Daly and George Higginß.—The jury found that Georgo Higgins was ''Guilty" of the murder of Bridget Daly, and that be, the said George Higgins, then was '• guilty of "Felo de se.' 1
